The topmost image shows sprites, the upper-atmospheric lightning sometimes seen above thunderstorms. The endless recording of everything today makes capturing them on film relatively commonplace.
If I saw a sprite array like the one on top, I know exactly what I'd think it was.
As always, it's a little depressing to be presented with a rational explanation for yet another of life's mysteries.

depressing? no no no. I want to thank you for this. i've never heard of sprites before. (I mean other than the concept of more than one refreshing soda.)
Im not one of those East coast elitists who scoffs when a gaggle of mouth-breathers down in west Texas all report a UFO. I get nervous. Alien invasion just gets added to the list of daily anxieties, large and small.
your sprites image gives me one less thing to be afraid of. Thank you.
The truth is still out there. The Scientists are in cahoots with the LIZARD PEOPLE to keep it covered up. Thankfully, the GREYS are working hard for our species enlightenment. The only question I have is whether Obama will side with the LIZARD PEOPLE or the GREYS.
I bet the GREYS.
